Testimony from Rehabilitation Centre Beneficiary:
Baby Hari Vardhini 3 years old female second daughter of us (Mrs. Rajeswari – Mother) was unable to stand and walk independently. During her early days she suffered from high fever and her right upper limb and left leg were paralyzed. As days passed the movement recovered in the affected limbs, but her left leg movements was not fully recovered. We were worried about the development of our child as she is a female child .We thought this condition would affect the future. This condition of the child made us to hide our child from our neighbours. We went for physiotherapy session in the nearby area and she developed to some extent .Later we realized her development was sluggish .At this juncture we came to know about free rehabilitation services provided by Seesha Rehabilitation Centre at Karunya Nagar.
We approached Seesha Rehabilitation Centre in the mid-July for evaluation. Seesha Physiotherapist& Occupational therapist assessed my child and came to a conclusion that she is suffering from sensory deficiency and exhibit some abnormal seeking behavior symptoms with oral hypersensitivity (makes brushing difficult) and developmental delay. They advised us to come for regular therapy. 3 months regular therapy, made my child to crawl independently and stand without support for a fraction of second. Before therapy she doesn’t like to walk with support, so she uses to develop tantrums to avoid walking. After the therapy she is interested to walk with support and commands us to take her for a walk daily. She also allows us to brush her with little struggle than before. The continuous effort of Seesha Rehabilitation team relieved us from social isolation and gave us new hope about our child. We are thankful to Dr. Paul Dhinakaran and his rehabilitation team member for their support for the helpless in need.
Testimony from SEESHA KARUNYA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL:
Mr. Paramasivam a 50 year old man with 2 children a truck driver by profession. Life was getting on well for him until he met with a road traffic accident few months ago and sustained compound fracture of the head and shaft of femur along with multiple aberrations in his left lower limb. He was immediately rushed to a government hospital as he was in great pain, but not being satisfied with their service, left later to a leading private hospital at Coimbatore with the hope that he would get the best treatment. He was then operated at the hospital, where in he spent more than Rs.1, 50,000 for the treatment and stayed at the hospital for more than a month. He was in great pain despite the treatment and having spent a huge amount, his family and friends suggested that he would be definitely treated well at SEESHA Karunya Community Hospital.
At this juncture he was brought to SKCH as he was totally bankrupt due to the previous treatment. When he came to SEESHA, he had a very large open, non healing wound at the fracture spot and the fracture is not getting healed. Initially he received the topical vacuum therapy which is the new low cost technique developed at SEESHA and later a skin grafting that healed beautifully.
We had suggested that since the wound had healed very well he could go and have his corrective orthopedic surgery. Unfortunately he was planning to go to a local bone setter as he did not have any money. The Karunya staff contributed and raised some money for his treatment.
The Physiotherapy given at SKCH has made him walk already with the walker and once the healing is complete he should be able to get back to his work. With an excellent physiotherapy that he received the fracture was healed .Now he has got back to his usual work. He thanks God for healing him.
The doctors have assured him that he would definitely be in a position to earn his livelihood by taking a sedentary job within the next few months, and will be in a position to go back to his earlier occupation of driving the lorry after 6 months. He speaks about SEESHA Karunya Rural Community Hospital about the care during his critical juncture and the concern, commitment shown by the team, along with their expertise in the field. He is extremely grateful towards SEESHA, and expresses his happiness by stating that no one would get a better treatment than SKCH.
