SEESHA RELIEF OPERATIONS IN ORISSA

Seesha provided relief to the victims of communal riots that took place in parts of Khondamal district of Orissa on 25th December 2007, which shook the whole nation. Several people lost their lives; thousands were in sheer shock; hundreds of houses where burned; vehicle were burnt; cattle fled with fear.

Government was stern in not giving permission to any of the NGOs to carry out the relief work. However the Supreme Court has stayed the Ban imposed by the State Government and on 24th of April Seesha carried out the relief work.

The relief in the form of monetary help was distributed to the affected families in a peaceful way. The local committee headed by Mr.Karthick, and a youngster helped us in identifying the affected and relief was distributed to 310 families. Also a Pentecostal Church which was burnt was given aid by distributing the relief to the families in the presence of Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Samson Das, Bishop of Cuttack, Rt. Rev Naik, Bishop of Phulabani, Mr. Chatrapathi, Thalisdar and ADM (Additional District Magistrate).
