Bihar one of the most backward states of India is facing a dire situation out of raging floods. Thousands of people have died, thousands of people have been displaced and more than 15000 villages have been destroyed. Many areas are still inaccessible by road and rail. Many railway bridges are over flowing with flood waters, roads were washed away by waters and people are suffering with several problems including food, water, sanitation and electricity. The floods have left behind a trail of devastation and destruction mainly in northern parts of Bihar.

SEESHA team rushed to Bihar to help the affected in floods. At Pandual of Madhubani district, Laharai sarai of Dharbanga District and in Bhagalpur Districts, the team distributed relief packets containing 10 kgs of Rice, 10 kgs of flour, 2 kgs of masoor Dal, 1 kg of Sugar, 1 liter of mustard oil, one salt packet, 10 match boxes & one tarpaulin to more than 800 families.(around 1800 people)

The threat of diseases such as Gastroenteritis, Typhoid, Cholera, Dysentery, Giardiases & Malaria looms over the affected areas. Some of the cases have been already reported and treatment is badly needed. One more Medical team is about to go to distribute medicines, to conduct awareness programs on how to take care of their health & hygiene and provide water purification tablets.

Even though the situation is very deadly; thanks to partners like you that SEESHA is able to touch the lives of the people affected there.
